Bag class

Supply list:
Weekender Tote Pattern. In stock at Sew Much More.
Jellyroll and Charm pack friendly.  The outer bag will be made with jellyroll strips (one jellyroll will make two bags or split a jellyroll with a friend}.  If you are using charm squares you will need 50 – either 2 packs or a charm pack and scraps from the lining.  1 ¼ yards will do for the inside pockets, lining and back of the straps.  You will have a choice of batting depending on how you intend to quilt your bag.

Bring your sewing machine, rotary cutter and mat, thread for assembling the bag, and your sewing essentials (scissors, rulers, needles, etc.)

The perfect bag!  Large enough to tote all your quilting supplies to class but not so large you'll need a friend to help you carry it. There are lots of pockets inside that you can customize for your needs.  And you’ll be able to make it all your own by doing some special quilting on it, either with the decorative stitches on your sewing machine or with some “ruler quilting.”

*Ruler quilting class offered Friday Nov 4

Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Confident Beginner
Instructor: Cat Allard
Instructor Bio: Cat Allard has been sewing since she was six years old, when her Aunt Dobbin put a needle in her hand and taught her the magic of sewing. She began quilting in 1993 after graduating with a Fine Arts Degree in Painting and Photography from Long Island University (C. W. Post). She began teaching classes in fabric painting, photo quilting and general quilting in 1996. Her hand-painted fabric appears in award winning fiber art quilts, as well as in her own quilts and those of other fabric-artists. By 2000 Cat Allard added Quilt repair and restoration to her talents and working with antique quilts became a passion, restoring several historic quilts from the 1860's, as well as repairing current quilts so that they can be used again by their owners. She has lectured on the process to local quilt guilds and evaluated many quilts, suggesting the best methods for restoration and repair. She teaches a variety of classes, including quilt making of all kinds, bags, gifts (placemats and other home items), Sashiko, Crazy quilting and Quilting with Rulers.
